Relief Society Announcement Board using Vinyl

This is a re-usable board I made for announcements in Relief Society. The dry erase board I purchased at home depot. They will cut it to size. I found one that was quite damaged and I got 2- 18x24, 1- 24x24 and one 48x36 for $5. It is always fun when your church calling allows you to get crafty. It was a lot of fun.

I used brown vinyl and cut it out with my cricut and SCAL. I used the font: Licorice

The WHAT'S FOR DINNER I found at a wonderful site called visiting teaching.net Linda has fantastic ideas on how to be the best visiting teacher. I especially LOVED reading her own story of how visiting teaching changed her life. Check it out. :)

Family Name Vinyl Quote - Be true to who you are

My sweet friend Kristen always finds the best quotes. I cut this out using the SCAL program. Kristen choose the FONTS: Kings Quest for the quote and Gothic caps for the initial. Once again...I love the SCAL program. To find an initial that we liked, I just googled fonts and found one and downloaded it for free. It's awesome. Here is a picture of the finished product. Thanks for sending it to me Kristen. It looks great!!

Christmas Decorations using vinyl

Above my entertainment center I have 4 gifts that are wrapped. I had one without a bow and so I decided to add a saying. The other 3 gifts represent the 3 wise men and the gifts they gave. The other one represents what gift we will give to our Savior. I used the stone script cricut cartridge.

The Merry Christmas block were a gift from my friend Robyn. She is amazing. She cut out the blocks, painted them and added the vinyl. I love them. THANKS AGAIN ROBYN>>>LOVE THEM.

Fun missionary gift

I took an old peanut butter plastic jar that I saved and cut out a missionary from my cricut in vinyl and we wrote a poem to go with how we were"beary" excited for him serving a mission. And then we filled it with cinnamon bears and used black tulle for the bow.

Wedding Sign-in book

These last few weeks have been so busy...but, so much fun. I created a wedding sign-in book for my neice, but forgot to take pictures. It turned out great. Her colors were plum, sage green and black and silver. My brother was getting married a week after her and so I thought it would be fun to create one for them. Their colors were coral and peach. I had it at the luncheon and everyone was able to sign it. You can just click on the picture to see it larger. Special thanks to my sister Shari that stayed up with me to help me create and adhere!!! :)

And a HUGE thanks to my husband, Wade ...who took the great pictures and printed them out for me. :) Love you !

Families are Forever

This project was inspired by my sister, Laurel. She had an idea and together we accomplished it. She found the wood board at wood connection in Utah and then she painted it black, sanded it and stained it. Then we added the vinyl. It was a gift for my brother that just got married last weekend. They loved it! Good job Laurel!!

Note: Cricut cartridges used were plantin schoolbook and calligraphy

Glass Etching - First Try

Finished Project

My husband and I had seen a commercial using the cricut and glass etching cream and so we decided to get some and try it. Today was my first attempt and it was a quick and easy project. Here are some simple steps to try.

1. Cut out a design on the cricut. Now I just cut it out normal not reversed, so if you look at the bottom of my pan it reads TYCKSEN. If you look from the top it is backwards. So, that just is something I will try different next time. You will need to reverse and FLIP the letters. :)

2. Place stencil you just made from the cricut onto the glass. I found that using transfer tape, helped it go quicker.

3. Brush on etching cream according to directions, which is brush it on left to right and top to bottom, be careful not to get etching cream anywhere else...besides your stencil.

4. Let sit 3-5 minutes and wash off with tap water. Thouroughly wash off all the cream.

5. Peel off vinyl and clean with glass cleaner. When it gets wet it looks like it did not work, but, it quickly dries....and there you go. I have included a few pics.

I bought the cream at Roberts. You can find it at any craft store.
Note: I have read that you can also use contact paper for stencils.
Cricut catridges used: Doodletype and Home Accents.
